Weighing In

Today both Maddy and Davis had a doctors appointment and each got shots...fun! Maddy had her 2 year check-up and Davis had his 6 month visit. I am often asked how much they weigh, etc., so here goes:

They are both in the 75% percentile for their age group.

Davis: 6 months 19 lbs 11 oz and 27" tall

Madelyn: 2 years old (26 1/2 months) 29 1/2 lbs and 35 " tall

Strawberry Fields....

Hi everyone!

This weekend John had a triathlon in Oxnard called Strawberry Fields (because they ride along the strawberry fields....) and it was a 1/4 mile swim in the ocean, 11.5 mile bike ride and 3 mile run.
Due to "unsafe water conditions" (aka crazy waves!), the swim was cancelled so he was only able to do the bike and run. I don't think he cared since the water was so cold! His friend Nate competed in it with him, and I was able to hang out with his wife Rebecca and son Collin (8 mo), along with our friends Brian & Sarah. We had a great time and both of the guys did great!

Life can be so frustrating.....

It's an IMPORTANT day!

Today is an important day for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's my sister's 34th birthday today! Happy Birthday DeAnne! I so wish I could celebrate your special day with you. You are wonderful and I am so blessed to not only call you my sister, but my friend. We send you LOTS of hugs and best wishes from Cali to Canada.

Today is also special because Davis
is a big 6 months old today! I feel like the time has flown and before long he will be well past being a "baby". This age is my favorite stage and I am remembering to enjoy every minute of it while it lasts. Davis just started eating solids last week and I have slowly introduced cereal, applesauce and sweet potatoes to his meals. Mmmmm! He's not too sure what he thinks about the textures and flavors yet though. AND...just this morning he started to crawl! It's technically not really "crawling" but more like "scooting" across the floor...... but his eyes are opening to a whole new level of freedom. I can put a toy in front of him and he's very determined to scoot toward it and grab it. Big accomplishment for the little man. =)

Maddy seems like such the little girl to me now and has really "grown up" since Dav
is was born. She's VERY eager to help and is a great little mommy. Last week she surprised us by singing the alphabet song and does very well, only missing a few letters here and there. She seems to have a good memory and remembers songs very well. In fact, I'm trying to get her to take a nap right now and she's just belting out her ABC's over and over. haha.

Well, I think that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed the family updates and I would love to read your comments if you have them. HAPPY SPRING!!!

To blog or not to blog....that is the question

So, I've broken down and decided to create a blog. For now at least. I've debated for a while about having one and didn't see the point, since anyone who will read it will already be caught up on any news I'd have to write about. But I've been cooped up in the house all week and am getting restless, so I thought why not!. Both kids have some kind of "bug" and aren't feeling well. It makes me so sad to see them feeling yucky. Maddy is just getting to the point where she can tell me that her tummy hurts, but that is about the extent of it. Davis can only do a sad cry/whine and his 102 fever and runny nose tells me the rest.

This past weekend John and some friends completed another bike ride in the quaint little town of Solvang. They rode 100 miles through rain, hail and a bit of sunshine! I'm so proud of John for how far he has come since he first started riding! This coming weekend (the 19th) he will ride the course for the LA Marathon and the weekend after (26th) will be competing in a Triathlon in Oxnard.
